Sustainability

We make simple, single-ingredient herbal care with fewer, better materials—and we’re transparent about what we’re doing now and what we’ll improve next.

Packaging evolution

We moved from a laminated box kit (gloves, shower cap, plastic inner bag, plastic clip and a paper leaflet) to a single white kraft stand-up pouch with a resealable zipper. That means fewer components to make, ship and dispose of, and simpler recycling guidance.

  • Shipping weight saved per pack: ≈ 35 g
  • Single-use plastic removed per pack: ≈ 40 g (gloves, cap, inner bag, clip; leaflet now digital via QR)
Previous laminated box kit
Before: laminated box kit with accessories
Current white kraft stand-up pouch
Now: single white kraft paper stand-up pouch

Before (boxed kit)

  • Laminated box
  • Single-use gloves
  • Single-use shower cap
  • Plastic inner bag
  • Plastic clip
  • Paper leaflet

Now (single pouch)

  • White kraft paper stand-up pouch (resealable zipper)
  • Instructions via QR (digital leaflet)
  • Fewer components → simpler disposal

Packaging today

Practical & protective

  • Resealable stand-up pouch protects freshness and reduces spoilage.
  • We minimise inks and coatings and aim for simpler, mono-material specs where possible.

Materials: 3-layer laminate — paper outer + foil barrier + plastic inner & zipper (composite flexible packaging, RIC #7).

Reusable: The pouch is resealable and suitable for a few reuses—ideal for leftover powder, travel refills, or other dry non-food items. Empty, wipe or lightly rinse, and let it dry fully between uses. Not for liquids, hot contents, or food. Reuse until the zipper or laminate wears, then follow local disposal guidance.

Disposal guidance

Canada: Recycling programs differ by province/municipality. Rinse and dry the pouch; check your city’s Blue Box rules or depot list for flexible composite packaging.

General guidance only—always follow local instructions.

Operations & shipping

Lean logistics

  • Lighter packs reduce transport emissions per unit.
  • We consolidate outbound shipments where possible to avoid splits.

Less paper

  • Digital guides via QR replace extra inserts in the box.

Ingredients & sourcing

Simple by design

  • Single-ingredient botanicals only—no synthetic dyes, fragrances, or microplastics.
  • Identity and cleanliness checks on incoming lots; SDS/TDS maintained.

Traceability & partners

  • Long-term suppliers; we prioritise farm/region traceability and seasonal consistency.
  • We collaborate to improve drying, sieving, and handling to reduce loss and rework.

People & partners

  • Supplier expectations cover legal wages, safe workplaces, and no child or forced labour.
  • We’re rolling out a simple Supplier Code of Conduct with annual acknowledgement.

Product use & end of life

  • Botanical powders are water-mixable and non-hazardous in normal use; avoid inhalation of dust.
  • Any leftover hydrated paste can go in general waste; avoid flushing to drains.

Where we are on certifications

Independent eco labels and audits are valuable, but they add significant cost for a small brand. We’re prioritising material changes first and will reassess certifications when scale makes them sustainable for us—and affordable for you.

12–18 month goals

  • Publish verified pack weights and market-specific recycling guidance (UK/EU/CA).
  • Supplier Code of Conduct issued; annual acknowledgement across partners.
  • Reduce packaging SKUs and offcuts; target ≥10% reduction vs current baseline.
  • Increase consolidated shipments to cut split deliveries.

Sustainability metrics

≈ 35 g Shipping weight saved per pack
≈ 40 g Single-use plastic removed per pack
—% Suppliers signed (Code of Conduct)
—% Consolidated shipments

Figures are based on current pack and internal estimates; we’ll publish verified data as we update measurements.
